Weekly staff education and training
As of the 12th of January 2021 both practices will be closed each Tuesday afternoon between 1.30pm and 2.30pm for protected staff education and training. If you call during this time you will be welcomed by an answer phone message, if you have a medical emergency or are unable to wait until after 2.30pm your call can be transferred to a member of the team.

Corona Virus has changed the way all our services work. GP Practices are open and have been through the Pandemic but services are being delivered differently.
If you need an appointment, contact your GP practice. It may be something you can safely manage yourself, so you may want to get advice from NHS Inform website or your local pharmacist before getting in touch.
Most appointments are being carried out over the phone or through Near Me but if you need a physical examination, you'll need to see your GP in person. Practice staff will let you know the options available to you when you call.
If you have a face to face appointment, your GP Practice will look a bit different, but please follow the guidance to help reduce the risk of infection.

We are introducing Video Consultations at the Aberfeldy practice starting on the 1st June. Near Me (Attend Anywhere) is the name of this service. This is a fully secure system which is used very widely by secondary care services within NHS Tayside and in other health board areas and using it allows clinical staff to communicate with their patients without the need for them to attend a medical establishment in person to do so. Many of the patients that we see in the practice are presenting with problems which may be suitable for a consultation such as this. Therefore if you would like to try it for your next appointment with us, please ask the receptionist who will arrange this for you if it’s appropriate for your complaint. The reception staff may also proactively offer you this as an option when you are looking to book an appointment at the practice if they think it may be of benefit to you.
How it works
Before starting please make sure you use one of the following web browsers: Google Chrome or Apple Safari.
Once you have been given a time for your video appointment, simply go to https://nhsattend.vc/aberfeldykinlochrannochmp - You will then be prompted to enter your full name, date of birth and your telephone number. This information is vital and must be completed at all times.
Once you have entered this information and accepted the terms and conditions, you will then be taken to a virtual “waiting area” to wait for the doctor or nurse to connect with you at your appointment time. We would ask that you please allow 10-15 minutes either side of your booked time slot to allow for your clinician running slightly ahead or over time with other patients.
The system works on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or a computer which has a video camera installed on it. To get the most out of the experience, we advise that you ensure that your device has the most up to date software version on it. The system works best where there is at least a 4G or Wi-Fi connection available. It will not work on a 3G signal.
When might a video consultation be suitable?
Here are a few examples of when a video consultation might be an appropriate option. This list is not exhaustive but is intended to be used as a reference point for patients who might be interested in using this option.
- Some skin lesions
- Simple urinary tract infections
- Some mental health related problems (stress, anxiety or low mood/depression reviews)
- Reviews of conditions (usually these are requested by a GP)
- Medication related issues where a community pharmacist cannot help
- Continuation of a sick line (Fit Note) where GP input is required
- Housebound patients where a GP visit is being requested or considered
electronic Key Information Summary
The Key Information Summary is a summary of medical history and patient wishes taken from the GP electronic record. It will be available to clinicians working in NHS24 and Out of Hours services if you need care when your GP surgery is closed.
With your permission your Key Information Summary will include information on your Medication, Allergies and reactions to medicines, contact information, care plans, next of kin and carer details, wishes or special instructions, management plans; if you have a long term condition use as diabetes and preferred place of care

To register for this service please print and complete this Registration Form and hand it to reception. Registration forms also available at reception. Photographic ID is required to register for this service.
Once we have completed your registration you will be emailed registration details where you will then be able to book/cancel appointments and request repeat medication.

Planning on having private treatment/surgery in the UK or abroad?
Please be aware that the whole episode of the treatment should be provided by the private provider, i.e. blood tests and other tests, suture removal, dressing changes, routine wound check, prescribing during your episode of private treatment, etc., and the Practice should not be involved in any aspects of this episode of treatment, with the exception of emergency care relating to the treatment.
It is also the private providers responsibility to issue a Fit Note covering the entire anticipated period off work, but if any longer time off is then required when you are no longer under the care of the provider then this would be the practice responsibility.

We have introduced sending SMS text messages to remind patients of booked appointments. For this service consent is required please download Consent Form and hand into reception.
Keep your details up to date
Please ensure that you keep your personal details up-to-date. Including changes in address, mobile number, landline, email address etc.
Failed to Attend Appointments
In 2019 475 appointments were missed which equates to 80 hours of consulting time. Please remember to cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend.
Treatment of dental problems/infections
As recommended by the British Medical Association (BMA) we are unable to provide treatment for Dental problems/infections, the General Medical Council (GMC) requires doctors to have appropriate skills for any treatment that they offer. We advise patients with dental problems to contact their registered dentist in the first instance, however, GPs can provide advice to ascertain that the conditioni requires only dental treatment. If you do not have a registered dentist, access to emergency dental services can be arranged by contacting NHS 111. The practice is unable to re-issue any prescriptions prescribed by a dentist.
